SHARK FISHING!

Shark fishing has become an extremely popular & exciting sport in Destin and in other shark infested coastal communities. The warm tropical waters along Florida’s Gulf Stream attract many species of sharks including the short fin mako. The aerodynamic shape of the short fin mako makes them one of the fastest, highest leaping and the most dangerous game fish in the ocean! Some of the mako's wild somersaulting, violent & reckless jumps have caused fishermen to pass the rod off to another angler. Mako's easily out jump marlins by a wide margin! The massive torpedo shaped mako is known to leap clear out of the water several feet to catch their prey in mid air and is the only species of its kind quick enough to catch and feed off of dolphins! Female makos grow to much larger sizes compared to males. Beginning in late March, many species such as the bull, tiger and the mako sharks begin arriving and scavenging the Emerald Coast line of North West Florida's Panhandle following and feeding off of the migrating cobia, king and Spanish mackerel and anything else they can find to make a meal of, including people! Although humans are not part of the food chain and due to the sharks poor vision, any large, moving object is worth sampling!
